[Poll] Help Me Pack
Okay, so. Today I tried on all my dresses and discovered, to my extreme lack of joy, that exactly two of them still fit over my post-breastfeeding boobs. Like, I thought the boobs were supposed to go back to normal, and in fact I thought they had, but after I saw myself in my pre-pregnancy all things to all parties dress (which I love and cannot stand the thought of getting rid of), with boob up as far as my ears, I was forced to conclude that that had maaaaaybe not happened.

So. Last year at VVC, I told myself that the next time I went, I would damned well bring a dress and wear it to Club Vivid. Obviously, my boobs are calling my bluff, since my choices now consist of:
  1. A nursing dress that, ironically, wouldn't fit over my boobs when I was nursing. It fits now. Pros: It is soft and comfy! It's kind of vaguely pretty! Cons: It's a nursing dress, and I'm not nursing anymore. Also, its style aesthetic can best be described as "schoolmarm who wants ready access to her boobs."

  2. A black lace dress that no one in this house remembers buying. Pros: It fits. And it's black. Cons: I'm not sure it ever was in style. It can best be described as "gothic schoolmarm."

  3. Pajamas. Pros: Comfortable. Cons: Not sure I want to be the girl who wore pajamas to the ball.

  4. My retired swimsuit. This is a suit I bought when I apparently believed I'd be attending a lot of underwater evening parties; it's black with a little drape and a short skirt and basically looks nothing like a swimsuit. Cons: Really not sure I want to be the girl who wore a swimsuit to the ball. Pros: Might be the most appropriate piece of attire I own that still fits over my boobs. Plus, if the hotel floods, I will be completely prepared and in a position to mock the attractive, well-dressed people flailing in their non-water-resistant clothing.
Since I am currently in an aggressive state of dither over all things relating to the trip (my brain currently sounds like this: eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEE, with occasionally side trips into what I was even thinking deciding to go somewhere), I can't decide. HELP.

I hate to say this, but...the only correct answer is to (prepare yourself) go buy a new dress.

I don't have TIME to buy a new dress. I leave on THURSDAY. I have several million things to do before then.

...Also, I don't want to buy a new dress. I just had the traumatic experience of seeing my boob acreage in my beloved ex-dress. I AM NOT IN A GOOD EMOTIONAL PLACE FOR MORE OF THAT.
Maramarag on August 7th, 2012 12:46 am (UTC)
Alas, I cannot pick between your other choices. It's just not possible!

(I regularly buy dresses at the thrift store just so I'll be prepared for a dress emergency. Like, y'know, Rosh Hashana. Which sneaks up on me every bloody year.)

Buy a new dress, woman!

Noooooooo don't wannnnnnnnnnna. (Also I do not have time.)

You leave on THURSDAY. Next-day shipping! Or, I mean, it's only 6pm. You can totally get to a mall, buy a dress, and be in bed by 10. :D

Buy a new dress?

Or is it something for which you could pull my favorite trick - the cardigan/capelet/strategically draped scarf thing?

I vote for a picture of the black lace dress and the swimsuit (not on you, just... I know I'm having trouble picturing the garments in question, anyone else?)
Giddygiddygeek on August 7th, 2012 12:54 am (UTC)
If the time crunch is TOO bad for buying a (new! comfortable! dress you will wear again!) dress, then I vote the black lace, with fun jewelry; alternately, you could take some scissors to the nursing dress just for funzies, Who knows what it's hiding under its marmish surface! If you take off its glasses and remove the pins from its bun, perhaps it is a VIXEN dress. Rawr. :D

Black lace or the PJs.

PS I have nothing to wear either & don't want/don't have time to go shopping either so I understand where you are coming from.

What; you're not going to provide pictures?

You would not be the only person who ever showed up to the ball in PJs!

Anyway, just let trelkez sparkle you, and whatever you decide to wear will be perfect.

Swimsuit! You know you want to!!!

(Especially if you have a skirt type thing to go with it. If it needs it. Having trouble visualising. HAI!)

First choice: new dress. Second (more probable option given the time frame) choice: the black lace dress that fits worn with strappy sandals. Lace dresses are in style right now so you have totes lucked out.

No to the nursing dress, no to the pajamas and a thousand times no to the swimsuit (?!).

Hit the FIDM scholarship store, corner of 9th and Grand in downtown LA. Lots of great Tadashi dresses/gowns, all at less than $50. Since neither pajamas nor swimwear is really the best idea for a party...

Lace! :D Then, I like the schoolmarm look.
Daegaer: fairy hair by ladyjaidadaegaer on August 7th, 2012 07:15 am (UTC)
The black lace, and goth it up all the way to eleven!

(And when you have time, research/get a new dress to be your new favourite).

LOL!

Tart up the black lace number - jewellery, scarves, heels, stockings, makeup... if the bugger fits, wear it! *g*

springwoofspringwoof on August 7th, 2012 11:28 am (UTC)
My vote is the black lace dress & then accessorize like heck. Black is a good base color to show off a vividly colored scarf or gauzy jacket/wrap/top...thing. Glittery jewelry would also help jazz up a black dress. Also, pretty, pretty shoes...

Wear your favorite dress and simply radiate the attitude that earboobs are the thing this season.
Stasiastasia on August 8th, 2012 03:36 am (UTC)
Dammit, this is the first time in my life I've wanted a "like" button on LJ.

Heh. Earboobs. *glee*

You know, "gothic schoolmarm" is not...the most un-TFV-like thing I've ever heard. And it sounds kind of intriguing. (Admittedly, as the Nearly Headless Nick of boobs and as someone who has worn a dress approximately twice since elementary school, I am not exactly the best source of advice here.)
Stasiastasia on August 8th, 2012 03:39 am (UTC)
Um. What's the VVC? I googled and got:

Vectren Corporation
Victor Valley College
Variable Valve Control

(and my personal favorite)

Voices of the Vampire Community.

Somehow, none of these quite sounds likely. Although, the vampire thing... but then you wouldn't be worried about being too goth.

And I'm joining my voice to the others - either wear the black lace dress and dress it up or get a new dress.
